Black soldier fly larvae are nature’s recyclers, consuming waste and transforming it into valuable resources. The larvae themselves can be used as a protein source for animals, while their manure, known as frass, can be used as a nutrient-rich soil amendment.
The name Philafeed is derived from the Zulu word 'Eziphilayo,' meaning 'living beings.' We believe in the connection between all living beings and aim to nurture this bond by creating circular food systems. By keeping food waste within the food loop, we mimic nature’s flow, ensuring that nutrients stay within the cycle to benefit both our communities and the planet.
Our container farm solutions are fully equipped to convert organic waste into sustainable, nutrient-rich insect protein and frass. Additionally, our app enhances efficiency and transparency by streamlining data collection and tracking throughout the process.
